The Summit was inaugurated by our Vice-Rector for Strategic Planning and Digital Culture, Emiliano Blasco.

The event took place physically on May 7th and 8th at the Real Colegio Complutense de Harvard (Boston), and was attended, behind closed doors, by prestigious researchers in Artificial Intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University and Northeastern University, including: Bernhardt Trout (MIT), Ricardo Kleinlein (Harvard), Leo Anthony Celi (Harvard, MIT), Richard Benjamins (OdiseIA), Matilda Dorotic (MIT/Norwegian Business School), Julio Gonzalez-Pacheco (NTT Data), Esteban Moro (North Eastern University), Miguel Ángel Armengol de la Hoz, PhD (MIT), Dr. Ignacio H. Medrano (Savana), Allison Ryder (MIT Sloan Management Review) and Miguel Ángel Liébanas (TrendSights).

This Summit will result in a powerful scientific article and a policy paper that will be published in open access after its completion.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is emerging as a rapidly growing technology that presents significant opportunities, but also challenges, for our societies. On the one hand, its ability to generate new and realistic content can enhance creativity and drive innovation in many sectors, while also contributing to the advancement of scientific research. On the other hand, its deployment in real-world systems poses risks and questions that must be addressed, including those in the labor market, the spread of misinformation, content creation, and the systematic reproduction of biases inherited from data.

Our University's ENIA International Chair in Generative AI aims to delve into these issues in an efficient, agile, interdisciplinary, and intercultural manner, thus contributing, in a relevant and active way, to the much-needed research in this area of AI, which is undoubtedly already changing the world as we know it.
